Der neue Mercurial Vapor 8 wurde für explosionsartige Geschwindigkeit entwickelt. Der neu gebaute/angefertigte anatomische V12 Leisten bildet ein festsitzendes Obermaterial und verhindert dadurch eine zu starke Bewegung des Fußes innerhalb des Schuhs. Durch das dünnere, weichere und leichtere Teijin Mikrofaserobermaterial ist der Fuß dem Ball so nah wie noch nie, für bessere Ballkontrolle und Gefühl ohne die Haltbarkeit des Schuhs zu verringern. Die revolutionäre Doppel Verbundstruktur der Sohle optimiert die Wiedergabe der Energie, während der Stollendruck im Mittelfuß und auf die Verse reduziert wird. Eine neue Stollenanordnung ermöglicht es dir explosiver in den Sprint zu kommen, schnellere Bewegungen auszuführen und dich schneller vom Gegenspieler zu lösen als jemals zuvor. Dieser Schuh wurde entwickelt um deine Geschwindigkeit perfekt auf dem Platz umzusetzen.
Desweiteren hat Nike dem Obermaterial eine ACC Schicht spendiert. ACC steht für All Conditions Control. Diese Beschichtung bietet auch bei nassen Verhältnissen beste Kontrolle und Griffigkeit. Darübehinaus wurde im vorderen Bereich vom Übergang der Sohle zum Oberschuh eine transparente Schutzschicht eingefügt, damit der Schuh im vorderen Bereich noch besser geschützt ist.
