This video will discuss many of the common misconceptions regarding milk and bodybuilding. We have heard both sides of the spectrum but there is still plenty of misinformation. I will also discuss a great substitution, Almond Milk.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in pumping iron, "Milk is for babies"
What it will ultimately come down to in terms of diet is your overall macronutrient intake, not a particular food or beverage, but when talking about milk, whether or not you consume it will come down to personal preference. If you are lactose intolerant or have a dairy / milk allergy which causes bloating or discomfort, obviously you would be avoiding milk or taking a medication / supplement to adhere to that problem.
If you are a bodybuilder you may have heard a variety of myths such as:
Milk makes you smooth
Milk makes you look soft
Milk makes you fat
In actuality as discussed in the video:
Milk is a great source of high quality protein (mix of casein and whey)
Milk is a great source of calcium
Dairy = calcium=bone health maintanance
High protein w/ inadequate calcium intake causes bone density to be lost
High protein + high calcium = beneficial effect on bone density
