Please help us to find bad videos. Broken or unappropriated video content?
Sadly, YouTube turns the smooth, razor sharp footage from the Runcam HD2 camera into a blazing pixelated mess - just look and see what I mean.
This is a great example of how YouTube's video encoding really screws up good quality 1080p 60fps video with lots of movement in it. The compression artifacts (pixelation) are *awful* so I recommend you download the 730MB RAW video file from the Runcam HD2's SD card from this location if you want to see what things really look like:
The lighting in this video is probably a worst-case scenario for any action camera, a dull overcast sky with some sheets of bright white sky -- so this is probably going to be the worst bit of footage this camera produces. The Runcam HD 2 performed pretty well in light-handling although I noticed some white-balance shifts that caused changes in the grass color, throughout the video. The whites were also blown out at times and the granularity of the exposure compensation is quite apparent at times - but this is the case with most of the affordable action cameras I've tried.
The lighting was so poor when this was shot that I did detect some noise (grain) on the footage and there were some minor compression artifacts in the fast-moving footage.
Sunny-day footage will be posted as soon as we get a sunny day (damn this spring weather!)
