Spec Racing: Problems & Solutions
It's tough to get pilots unified on the idea of Spec Racing. Kudos to MultiGP for taking a stab at it.
Here's an outline of this video:
Three Problems:
1. Money
*How much will this cost?
*Pilots feel like they have too many quads
*Pilots may have recently built a quad and now need another one
2. Availability
*Source parts locally or from over seas
*Will replacement parts be available/quickly
*Focus on cheap parts (more pilots) or quality parts (more skilled, fewer pilots)
*Parts being swapped out for other brands
3. Racing
*Number of spec races
*Number of other pilots racing
*Spec Quad fast enough to compete with non-spec quads
== SOLUTIONS ==
*ARF or RTF quad like the Wizard X220 (5")
*Design 3" spec quad
*Design 6S spec quad
*Team up with a vendor to make a spec "kit"
*Allow all pilots to race but only spec quads earn points/prizes
*(Bonus) Race Directors provide quads & charge higher entry fee
