And now, I'm going to show you how to secure the pull tab.
So, you're going to open up the base page and you can see that the pull tab is all over the place. And that's not what we want. We want a very smooth channel.
So, I'm going to flip it over and I'm going to see where it starts to open and reveal the back. So, right about there, right when it closes, I'm going to mark the pull tab. You can erase these lines later.
And now, I'm going to open it all the way and mark that as well. And, ever so carefully, try not to move the pull tab. You want it to stay in that open position.
So, you can see that the pull tab is now just below that opening. And that's what we want.
So next, you're going to take a small strip of cardstock that is wider than the slot and is wider than this piece. And we're going to double stick that on.
This is going to end up being, like, the brakes for your pull tab. It's going to stop it from pulling all the way out of the base page. So now, you can see that it can't come down anymore.
But, it has no where to stop when it goes all the way off. So, what we're going to end up doing now is we're going to push it back up to the closed position. Gently open it. And we're going to end up making another piece that's going to keep this pull tab in its position.
I'm going to cut out another strip of cardstock. And it's wider than the pull tab. And what we're going to do is we're going to fold this under. And we're going to fold the other side under so it wraps around the pull tab comfortably so it slips, in and out.
So, now what we're going to do is we're going to double stick the backside of the band that we've just created. And slip that on to the pull tab. And that's going to end up butting right up against the piece we just put on, the little brake.
[So now you're going] to make sure the double stick stays on. And now, you can see that our pull tab stays within the areas that we want it to. And it's not wiggling about everywhere.
So, now you can close it. And now it's in the closed position. And, if you'd like, you can just trim off a little bit of that pull tab. And now, you can see, that we're revealing the back of the base page.
And so, here's an example of a pull tab in a card that I've made. You can see this little guy's mouth opens up so you can say, "Thank you." You can say, "I love you." You can say anything you'd like.
