Recently the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) captured the highest resolution imagery to date of the surface of the red giant star. It is 600 light-years away in the Orion constellation and has a "radius around 1400 times larger than the Sun’s in the millimeter continuum," according to ESO.
