Multiplex Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter Maiden
I knew I could count on Harv to execute a perfectly scale flight of this little perfectly scale foam plane for its maiden flight (yeah, right! ;-)
After a quick 1 minute trim flight, Harv grabbed the radio, I grabbed the camera and we headed to the flight line for the video maiden. Please keep in mind as you watch this video that this was the first time Harv had flown the plane and that it was quite windy with strong gusts. The wind shifted from straight down the runway to a straight crosswind and everything in between a couple of times during this flight...weird. I have a hunch that if Harv gets a chance to put a few more flights on her, he'll get her figured out lol.
Also, sorry about the shaky camera work. I'm finding out the hard way that I still have some work to do to get fully recovered from my recent surgery.
So, what's the deal with this plane? She sure looks the part but I'm going to have to reserve judgement about the way she flies until we get a calm day. On this windy day, and without the benefit of knowing her better, she made you work hard. Watching Harv fly her doesn't really count lol. As long as a plane has at least one wing and a rudder, he could make it look good. His flight does however; give you an idea of what's lurking under that scale exterior.
The bottom line is that she is a very good looking scale model of a Pilatus Porter and I suspect she will fly well in that role. When you get stupid with her she will gladly play along but at the end of the day, if I had to have only one Multiplex high wing plane, it would be a Fun Cub.
I look forward to a nice calm day to fly her in a semi scale manner and play around with short take offs and landings.
