In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Chuck Allen, the Executive Director of SOAR Oregon about the non-profit's mission to bring companies working in the business of unmanned aircraft systems to the state and support its three FAA-approved test ranges. The state offers diverse geographic environments, from the Pacific Ocean and forested coastal mountain range at Tillamook, a Class-D airport surrounded by farmland growing 215 different crops for precision agriculture testing in Pendleton, to the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, which can provide controlled wildland firefighting, high desert terrain and closed-range testing. SOAR also provides grants for companies working in the drone industry in Oregon, or interested in establishing operations in the state.
