Lucerne, Switzerland orientation walk

We begin with an orientation walk through the heart of Lucerne. It's a charming cobblestone town. The historic center of Lucerne is an extensive pedestrian zone, filled with interesting shops, restaurants, and ancient buildings. The steep gabled roofs, covered with strong wooden shingles to ward off the winter snow, complete the picturesque scenario. Automobiles are not allowed into this large historic zone, so you can wander the cobbled lanes without fear of getting run over. Our fabulous Hotel Des Balances is located right in the heart of the old town on the River Ruess, where you often see majestci swans gliding by.
And now we are taking the cute little local train that goes from Lucerne up to Engelberg. It's a comfortable train ride. It's first-class once again, the windows roll down so you get a nice view with some fresh air and it just takes about one hour to go one direction, then after visiting the town or Titlis, you ride back the same way, passing very scenic countryside.
