To date there hasn't really been much in the way of third party receivers for the JR DMSS 2.4GHz protocol -- but HobbyKing's new Orange RD8M receiver looks set to change that. I was happy with the build-quality and initial performance tests of this receiver so if it passes the flight tests it could be a great option for JR DMSS radio users who are looking to save a little money without compromising performance.
Pros:
- good range (equal or better than the genuine JR receiver)
- excellent signal reacquisition (faster than the JR receiver)
- smaller size and lighter weight
Cons:
- no telemetry
- binding operation a bit hit and miss
