FPV Micro Racing Drone Dipole vs Cloverleaf Antenna - FPV Micro Drones Camera Cloverleaf antenna problems and fixes. Replace Cloverleaf Antenna with Dipole Antenna on FPV Micro Drone Camera. This is a test and suggested fix for FPV Micro Drone cameras that use Cloverleaf Antennas. Cloverleaf Antennas are very fragile and break very easily, versus Dipole antennas which are flexible and more forgiving. This video demonstrates the use of both Dipole and cloverleaf antennas in actual flying conditions. Since Micro FPV Racing drones dont generally go very far, this is a good solution to replace the Cloverleaf Antenna with a dipole antenna.
What is a Dipole Antenna? A dipole antenna is a straight electrical conductor measuring 1/2 wavelength from end to end and connected at the center to a radio-frequency (RF) feed line. This antenna, also called a doublet, is one of the simplest types of antenna, and constitutes the main RF radiating and receiving element in various sophisticated types of antennas. The dipole is inherently a balanced antenna, because it is bilaterally symmetrical.
What is a Cloverleaf Antenna? A cloverleaf antenna is a circularly polarized wire antenna, with a radiation pattern similar to a dipole antenna. The cloverleaf antenna has peak radiation direction broadside to the antenna. The antenna has nulls (very little radiation) in the axial direction
