October saw the start of our ten-week Debut season in conjunction with 50WEAPONS, to celebrate their last ever ten releases. This week sees Cosmin TRG passing the baton to Phon.o, for the second instalment in the series.
Maybe due to its context as one of 50WEAPONS' last ever releases, the tone of "Tw33tz" is richly nostalgic. A big, four-by-four house beat upholds an indulgent, soaring synth melody, easily giving into a feeling that's deeply reminiscent of the melancholic euphoria taking place around about 4am on dancefloors worldwide. As a label whose releases are known to touch on all spectra of Berlin's dance music, 50WEAPONS ticks a more conventional box with "Tw33tz" ? with a suitably neurotic teeth-clencher by Paula Temple on the flip, just to remind you that 50WEAPONS will continually catch you off-guard. Long live 50WEAPONS.
