In episode 5, Racing the Riotous Bay, the iconic San Francisco Bay takes center stage as a body of water that has never been easy to sail or tame. Treacherous tides, swirling currents and blustery winds present tremendous challenges for the teams in the 34th America's Cup.
To win, it's not just about speed, it's about maneuvering around the course and making split second decisions, all while dealing with the erratic conditions of the bay. Unlike any race course in the world, every 30 seconds the sailors are racing in a different weather pattern. It is so demanding, comparisons are made to mountain climber taking on Mt. Everest. This episode also highlights the gear that protects the sailors in case of a capsize or any accident.
