The Hanseatic Museum in the heart of Bergen, Norway, is an excellent history museum located in several original wooden buildings that were offices and homes of the Hanseatic traders. Guides bring you through actual authentic rooms and explain about life centuries ago, making this a very worthwhile visit. The Hanseatic league was a major commercial network controlling Northern European maritime trade between 1400 and 1800. Bergen was one of the main trading cities in this league, with import of goods from Scandinavia, including Iceland and distribution throughout Europe.
