To be released in Japan on December 13th, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is the latest installment in the Gran Turismo series, and its first foray on to the Playstation 3. It is billed as a taste of things to come in the new Gran Turismo 5, to be released in 2008. GT 5 Prologue will features 40 cars which can be raced over 5 tracks, while the full version will feature over 700 cars, including Ferrari and the recently unveiled Nissan GT-R. For the first time Online play will be available, featuring 16-player online races with full voice options, playstation home integration and a customizable online profile. Another first for the series is an in-car view, accurately representing each vehicle' interior, with working instruments and mirrors, also, based on the players viewpoint the engine sound changes, accurately modeling what it sounds like to be driving the cars. GT5 Prologue supports full HD 1080p resolution with HDR lighting and texture filtering at 60 frames per second, 7.1 channel sound, Dual Shock controller vibration and Racing Wheels force feedback. It also includes a feature titled GT.TV, allowing users to download and view episodes of real-life motoring shows such as the BBC's Top Gear and Japan's Car Graphic TV. Coinciding with the Tokyo Game Show a downloadable demo of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is currently available on the Playstation Network from october 20th to november 30th with new cars being available in the game as they are unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in late October.
