Please help us to find bad videos. Broken or unappropriated video content?
My Blade mQX () lost two arms. Actually I broke them practicing loops and rolls. In this video I talk through the process of measuring, designing, and 3D printing a new arm (boom) for the Blade. Everything went according to play, EXCEPT the arms weren't rigid enough.
The Makerware default infill is 10% and therefore the print was too flexible. The vibration from the motor/prop was too much for the boom to handle and the flight controller was trying to compensate. This caused the Blade mQX to become uncontrollable and shoot off into the air.
The good news (I think) is that I should be able to play with the print settings and get the boom rigid enough to sustain the vibration. I'll be experimenting and will follow up once I figure this out.
If you have any suggestions on improving the print rigidity please let me know! Thanks.
