Is the Creality CR-10 Safe? - BIG 3D Printed Terminator Head!!!

In today's video I will take a look at the electronics inside the Creality CR-10 3D printer. I was happily surprised by the organized wiring and tidy placement of the electronics in general. I've seen many comments asking what is it that makes a 3D printer safe? The most common among the "cheap Chinese printers", is connector meltdown. Basically the controller and connectors are not rated to supply the high current of the heated bed, and therefore fails. In some rare cases it has been reported to even start a fire! Luckily all the connections inside the CR-10 was made with crimp connectors, thus reducing the chance of a meltdown.
Often the controller fails because the current is too high when heating the bed, and often people install an external mosfet. The external mosfet is a component rated for higher currents and is able to safely deliver the power needed. Creality went the extra distance and decided to install one by default. The installed external mosfet in combination with solid connections, a fused AC connection, 12AWG wires and being properly grounded, makes the Creality CR-10 generally safe to use. However, I would never recommend leaving any 3D printer working unattended.
