In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Ryan Henderson, a UAS pilot with the University of Maryland. He begins by describing the Phoenix Ace V2 from UAV Solutions, which flies using a custom seven-cell battery combining lithium-polymer and lithium-ion chemistry to achieve a one-hour flying time. Henderson describes how the aircraft has been used by the university for a variety of missions, including a radiation detection demonstration. The university has also used its drones working with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to validate data being generated by the GOES-R satellite, now in orbit.
