Today we meet with our friend Jose Gomez, whom we have already met in Madrid a year ago. He traveled specially from Madrid to show us the beauty of his native city personally.
While we are waiting in front of the hotel, a plaque at the adjacent Iglesia de San Miguel attracts our attention. It is reminiscent of the 13th of December 1474, on that day Isabella the Catholic was proclaimed Queen of Castile at the Plaza Mayor. Heute treffen wir uns mit unserem Freund Jose Gomez, den wir bereits vor einem Jahr in Madrid getroffen haben. Er reist extra von Madrid an, um uns die Schönheiten seiner Geburtsstadt persönlich zu zeigen.
Während wir vor dem Hotel auf ihn warten, fällt uns eine Tafel an der benachbarten Iglesia de San Miguel. Es erinnert an den 13.12.1474, als Isabella die Katholische sich an der Plaza Mayor zur Königin von Kastilien ausrufen ließ. Die ursprüngliche Krönungskirche ist zwar einem Feuer zum Opfer gefallen, doch ein Pavillon in der Mitte des Platzes markiert die Stelle, wo einst die Kirche stand.
