In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Echo Lin, the marketing director for Chinese drone manufacturer ZeroTech, at the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas. ZeroTech is best known in the United States for its folding Dobby pocket drone. Controlled with a cell phone app, the Dobby is intended first and foremost as a “selfie” drone, to capture quick aerial photos and videos. However, at NAB the company revealed a new side to the diminutive drone with the introduction of ZeroSpace: a choreographed swarm of eight Dobbies controlled by a single pilot using a cell phone app. Flying above a custom-printed floor covering with distinctive markings to allow the Dobby's optical flow camera to determine its precise location, the little drones put on a show reminiscent of the larger aerial displays staged by Intel, completing intricate maneuvers without any direct human input.
