In this video, I'll show you how to get the best video quality out of YouTube, while still keeping your file sizes manageable. My opinion is that the best video quality is obtained by shooting in 2.7k resolution and exporting with a bit-rate of 16 Mbps target / 24 Mbps max. The Hero 5 Session doesn't have high enough bit-rate to get any extra image quality out of its 4k resolution when the subject is fast-motion, like FPV video. 4k just makes bigger files that actually look worse than 2.7k. Even if you intend to export only at 1080p, or if you expect viewers to watch in 1080p, my results indicate that setting the GoPro to 2.7k gives better image quality.
