Resident Evil 7 – PC Max vs. PS4 vs. Xbox One Graphics Comparison

We compare the graphics of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The PC is set to max graphics, where possible with one exception: we set Reflections to "variable" instead of "on" because "on" cuased strange shader bugs. The anti aliasing mode on PC is SMAA because it gave the clearest image. An overview of the settings can be found at the end of the video. Officially both versions run at 1080p with 60 frames, but the Xbox One Version looks less sharp. Maybe the Xbox One uses another method of anti aliasing, such as FXAA or it renders the image with 900p natively. Both versions use a lot post processing effects that blur the image to achieve a denser atmosphere. Those effects – chromatic aberration, vignetting, blur, ... – cannot be turned off.

Wir vergleichen die Grafik von Resident Evil 7 Biohazard auf PC, PS4 und Xbox One. Der PC läuft mit maximalen Grafik-Details außer bei den Spiegelungen. Dort mussten wir statt "an" "variabel" wählen, da es sonst zu Shader-Fehler gekommen ist. Als Kantenglättung haben wir SMAA verwendet, da es das sauberste Bild liefert. Laut offizieller Ankündigung laufen beide Spiele mit 1080p und 60 Frames. Dennoch ist das Bild auf der Xbox One leicht unschärfer, der Unterschied fällt aber nur im direkten Vergleich auf. Eine mögliche Erklärung dafür wäre, dass die Xbox One auf eine andere Kantenglättung zurückgreift, etwa FXAA, die das Bild leicht unschärfer macht. Eine andere Erkärung wäre, dass die Xbox One nur 900p mit 60 Frames nativ ausgibt. Beide Versionen nutzen starke Post-Processing-Effekte um das Bild unschärfer zu gestalten und so für eine dichtere Atmosphäre zu sorgen. Diese Effekte, unter anderem chromatische Abweichung, Vignettierung und Unschärfe-Filter, lassen sich auf den Konsolen nicht abstellen.
