Chloë Grace Moretz as the Little Mermaid
This is a fan-made movie poster for the live-action film of Hans Christian Andersen’s 'The Little Mermaid' (not the Disney version). This is how I would imagine Chloë Grace Moretz would look if she were to play the Little Mermaid. I am aware Chloë Grace Moretz may no longer be involved with this film. Who do you think should play the Little Mermaid?
Personally, I believe the role should go to Elle Fanning. In Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, the Little Mermaid exchanges her tongue, and thus her voice, for legs. Also, with every step the Little Mermaid takes, she will feel is though she is walking on sharp knives. Elle Fanning is able to convey intense feeling and emotion without a single word with her otherworldly facial expressions - just watch her in 'Ginger and Rosa' (2012) and 'The Neon Demon' (2016). Plus, she naturally has an ethereal and enchanting look. Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid would be the perfect role for her.
I wanted the Little Mermaid’s dress to feature elements of nature. For example, the bottom of the dress reminds me of white crashing tides colliding with rocks on the shore. Flower and coral-like details are present all throughout the dress as well as unique stones and gems on the headpiece. I thought a pure white dress would be appropriate for the character, signifying the Little Mermaid’s innocence, selflessness, and purity of heart.
