You can't create reliable, effective soldered joints with a poor quality iron and although the 936 soldering station from HobbyKing is pretty "budget" and not without its faults, it's still a much better option than one of the cheap fixed-temperature soldering irons that so many people try to use with poor results.
However, if you're going to buy this soldering station, do yourself a big favour and buy some different tips because the standard tip is just too small. Do not get conical tips, get those with a flat face for maximum heat transfer.
You may also want to consider giving the mains wiring some physical support by way of hot glue where it solders to the switch circuit-board.
