A giant melt is on at the moment and this truck is ready to let loose! Though this 1/7th scale truck is NOT labelled as "Waterproof", the ESC iS a waterproof Hobbywing model and the Brushless motor is not "sensored". Being non-sensored the motor is less susceptible to water damage (In my opinion), so I risked getting it wet today! I did not make the motor pull "too much load" from the ESC/Battery. I did not lock up the tires in thick mud - so the draw on the motor was limited to "skipping water", and jumping ramps. The Servo is "not waterproof", but the upside down design helps keep water from settling around the steering horn. Im not too worried about this servo crapping out, as I have a larger and more powerful Savox Waterproof servo standing by in case this one dies - but to my surprise.. this TRUCK WAS UN-PHASED during todays galavanting. Everything was working and going strong, other than my lipo batteries. The lipo "low voltage" cutoff let me know by the end of the film that this truck was ready for a re-charge.
Yes, I did break this truck during filming. The right hand upper suspension link rod-end snapped once - but it is too be expected with the abuse I put it through. Shockingly - this is my second run with this truck - and it is the only thing that has broken! Very cool.
To keep the water out of my tires - I pre-taped the "breather" holes inside the rims. You will notice in the film, the tires look kind of odd when in the air and rotating quickly. The reason being it is creating a vacuum when the tire is trying to expand - but can't because the holes are covered with tape.
Overall, I am very happy with the performance of this truck! The video does the size of it.. NO JUSTiCE! It is almost as large as the Traxxas XMaxx - and much lighter.
6S Lipo Battery Today! 22.2v of power.
Savox metal-gear unit - 185 oz.-in. of torque.
