In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with FLIR Systems President and CEO Andy Teich about his company's entry into the drone industry. In late 2015, FLIR entered into a partnership with DJI to introduce the Zenmuse XT gimbal-stablized thermal imaging camera, based on the company's Tau camera core. In 2016 released the FLIR Vue, the FLIR Vue Pro and the FLIR Vue Pro R, also based on the Tau. Then, at CES 2017, it announced the Duo and the Duo R, which incorporate both a Lepton thermal imaging sensor as well as an HD visible light sensor into a camera the same size, shape and weight as a GoPro Hero sports camera. Teich describes the development of the Vue and Tau camera cores, as well as the new Boson core. He also discusses FLIR's acquisition of Prox Dynamics, which makes the Black Hornet: a tiny, single-rotor helicopter designed for reconnaissance and surveillance.
