In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Raymon Robinson about the Yuneec Typhoon H520: a commercial version of the popular H aerial photography drone. The H520 is slightly larger than the H and features upgraded motors, an improved battery offering more than 30 minutes of flight time, as well as a new flight controller with an integrated screen for First-Person View (FPV) flying. Bright orange in color, to improve visibility against either a clear or an overcast sky, the H520 is designed to take full advantage of three new camera payloads that Yuneec has developed along with it. First is an improved version of the CGO3+ which came as standard equipment on the H, as well as the CGO-ET, which incorporates a thermal camera alongside a visible light sensor and the CGO-CI, developed specifically for performing industrial inspections as well as aerial cinematography, featuring a 50mm lens. Yuneec will make a Software Development Kit (SDK) available for the H520, along with an integrated mapping utility. The Intel RealSense collision avoidance system will be available as an optional upgrade. The H520 will be available in Q2 of 2017, and the price will be announced at a later date.
