HobbyKing DHC-2 Beaver EP/GP Maiden

After a quick, uneventful trim flight, Paul landed his new HobbyKing DHC-2 Beaver and took her up for “the maiden flight”. Paul has a number of Saito engines collecting dust and chose this ARF as a way to get one of them to do a little work. He’s already got floats for her and will be getting her ready for summer.
Paul flew for ten minutes and the gas tank was still full. The awesome little Saito 91 was a great choice for the plane but it sure makes an oily mess of the plane as you can see from the photos.
Paul is using Spektrum 821 servos powered by an A123 1100 pack.
As you can tell, it wasn't the greatest sky for doing a video. The cloud cover didn't have time to clear after a few days of rain and the dark sky washed out all the color. Having said that, it was a great day for flying with little wind and double digit temperatures. We were in t-shirts which is amazing for January around here. But then of course, there's no such thing as global warming. While we were in t-shirts on the West Coast of Canada, the Eastern seaboard was preparing for a huge snow storm that dumped one meter of snow.
