Drag racing on the Tokoroa Airfield
Funny cars, street-cars and hot-rods were on the runway in early December 2011 as the local car club held one of their twice-annual drag races.
The SWMAC were there having our regular Sunday morning coffee session so we took some video. This tears the shite out of the runway but at least this year they swept up all the rubber and most of the metalwork that often ends up littering the runway. Normally I end up with a handful of nuts, bolts and screws after walking the runway following one of these events - this year, I only found one panel screw -- still enough to puncture an aircraft tire though!
