Panasonic NCR18650B cells from reputable U.S. seller: (randyd88)
3mm expanded PVC board:
These packs can be assembled at this time from Panasonic NCR18650B cells, or from Panasonic/Sanyo NCR18650GA cells, the newest generation of cells commercially available. With an energy density of about 167% more than lipos, They can save weight, and allow for longer flights!
There were some significant challenges involved in the development of this pack. The accepted method of spot welding tabs provides a great assembly method for small packs, however, as the current is greater with a larger pack, criss-crossing the tabs becomes necessary, and ground loops are created. This can be dangerous for a FPV plane, as it causes electromagnetic interference, potentially leading to loss of control, and erroneous telemetry readings from the on board monitoring system, and even actuator malfunction.
The methods shown in this video are a work around solution intended to allow the use of larger packs of these cells in all sizes of FPV planes, and other vehicles, including electric bicycles, and even electric automobiles.
Please check the manufacturer's spec sheets when looking at using a certain Lithium Ion cell, or any cell for that matter, for a given application, to make sure that the cell is safe for that application.
Please be safe when working with electricity, and take all appropriate safety measures, including personal safety protection.
If you are unsure about any step of the build, STOP and verify your next action before proceeding.
Here at Bearospace, We believe that these cell types will become more and more common on FPV aircraft, and commercial UAV's in the future, and we are hoping to accelerate their use in the field!
The combination of aircraft with long duration capability, and this better battery technology, can achieve much more than has been possible in the past in terms of useful vehicle performance!
A better battery makes the airplane that much better, and a better aircraft makes the power system that much more useful, and longer lasting! The two work together.
As you can imagine, a lot of work went into developing and testing this solution for the FPV community, and if you wish to donate, you can do so via Paypal using the following email address:

Doing so will help us continue to bring you innovation in aircraft, design, and applied technologies for our great hobby!
See the Advanced Projects page on our website for more information on our Future Concepts!
If you are in a position to offer investment opportunities for the explosive market of commercial UAV's, and want to help us Develop any of these concepts further, we would be happy to discuss those possibilities with you at your convenience.
Until next time, Thanks for Watching, and have a good one!
