Here is an update video on what I have been doing with my recent project, revamping a Vintage 1971 Indian Winnebago. I recently acquired this RC through an online trade, and got straight to work. I noticed that the setup was pretty good, for a first attempt - but the RVs axles were very low to the ground, creating clearance issues. Also, the axles used house unlocked differentials. I assume these were either spare axles that were used in the project, or potentially the builder had been trying to make the long machine turn smoother. Another observation was that the battery was placed under the body just above the rear axle. The space was large enough to fit a 5000mah 2s lipo battery - but was restricted in movement because of the placement.
In this film I show the removed driveline, and the upgrades I did. I removed the transmission, drive shafts and axles - and opted into a "MOA", Motor On Axle setup. This means each axle has an individual motor that powers 2 wheels each. Also, I have gone with a complete rear steer setup. The Axles are the Bully 2 Competition Rock Crawlers, and are made off all aluminum. The on-axle transmission (where the motor is mounted) has a much higher clearance - and has removed any "hook up" spots.
I have also placed the battery where the transmission used to be mounted, newly putting it in the middle of the frame.
I can see that I have to adjust the link placement - to correct the overall wheelbase length. Should be a fairly simple fix by drilling 4 new holes on the subframe drop down hanger, and move the links in.
