In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Steve Cohen, the president of the Drone User Group Network – a national organization with more than 20,000 members affiliated with individual chapters throughout the United State. Living in the New York area, Cohen and the New York chapter of DUG helped lay the groundwork for the US National Drone Racing Championship by hosting a fly-in on Governors Island one year before the races, acquiring all of the necessary permissions, working with the numerous heliports in the area, the Federal Aviation Administration, the New York Police Department Air Division and other authorities. Cohen also discusses his goal of having the DUGN become recognized as a Community-Based Organization, like the Academy of Model Aeronautics, to set safety standards for drone-specific hobbyists.
