In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Laurent Eschenauer, the CEO of Fleye. The company has designed a ducted-fan drone of the same name which incorporates a single, shrouded propeller and uses thrust-vectoring fins to maintain stability and directional control. Capable of being controlled with either a smart phone or a standard 2.4 GHz hobby controller, it also includes an HD video camera, optical flow sensor and GPS stabilization. The primary advantage of this design is safety, as the propeller is completely enclosed inside the hull of the drone, eliminating any possibility of prop strike. Fleye is being funded on Kickstarter, with the campaign set to end on Friday, January 15 at 9 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.
