This is the Katana EP, usually sold under the Dynam name and it is rubbish.
I've had this one for about four years and every time I fly it I am reminded why I don't fly it very often -- it just doesn't fly very well at all.
These things sell in ARF and RTF versions -- I originally bout the RTF version which came with horrible Dynam 8g servos (which didn't center and had barely enough power to move the control surfaces) plus one of those nasty Neko 4-channel radios -- with no expo or rate switches, making them useless for decent 3D.
Some places sell these with the recommendation that a 3S 2200mAH battery be used -- they're crazy! What's more, if you fit the battery where it is supposed to go they turn out very, very nose-heavy and that makes 3D flying really hard.
Since I swapped out the Dynam servos for HXT900s and switched to a nice light 3S 1000mAH pack that I sit right on the CG, this plane flies a lot better -- but it's still not what I'd call good value or a great 3D flier.
If you want something that gives better bang for the buck -- buy *anything* but this. For 3D-capable models this size then foamie profiles are probably your best bet.
What a shame -- because my Katana 46P and the Katana 70 are great profiles -- this Katana P is a real disappointment.
Have you got one of these Katana EPs? Is your experience different to mine? If so, share your opinion in the comments to this video.
And forgive Ron's fear of the zoom while filming the flight-video, -- he's old you know.
