Quite a few people asked to see what the live video feed from my miniquad looks like when I'm flying through the trees - so here is the live video from my MXP230 elite and to make life more interesting, I experiment with position and antennas to try and improve things. Note that for some reason, you simply don't notice the small glitches at all when you're actually flying -- to busy perhaps?
Overall, I think that dual skew planar antennas with diversity produce the best overall results (that's the one option I couldn't show on the DVR). The single cloverleaf gave much more even reception and even with diversity, using the 5-turn helical in such a reflective environment produced a lot of image distortion when flying "outside the beam" -- from what looked like the gain of the helical allowing multipathing to have more of an effect than would otherwise be the case.
Sorry that this video was such a long one -- but I was having way too much fun to keep it short -- and do you notice how the live video feed gives a much greater impression of speed than the Mobius footage?
Note that this whole video (aside from the DVR footage) was shot using my Mobius.
The setup used here was:
- MXP230 elite
- DYS 2204/2300KV motors
- Rotorgeeks 12A ESCs running BLHeli (no Oneshot, gasp!)
- Naze32 FC running the original Baseflight (gasp!)
- Gemfan 5040 props
- Turnigy 3S 1400mAH 40-80C Nanotech batteries
- FrSky D4RII receiver (with voltage telemetry)
- FrSky Taranis transmitter
- Skyzone 500mw 5.8GHz video transmitter
- HS1177 live FPV camera (600TVL SuperHAD with WDR)
- Mobius HD recording camera with standard lens
- Skyzone RC700D LCD/DVR
- Skyzone video glasses (Version 1)
- 15-year old camping chair of unknown origins
