In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew unboxes the 2016 Presidential Ballot for the Academy of Model Aeronautics, a contest between Rich Hanson, Lawrence Tougas and Eric Williams. After describing the contents of the envelope and the voting procedure, the crew advocates for Rich Hanson to serve as the next AMA President. Hanson is the most qualified of the three individuals seeking the position, having served for 25 years in the organization's leadership, including as an executive vice president and as the government and regulatory affairs director during the negotiations with Congress and the FAA leading up to the passage of the 2012 bill that established the Special Rule for Model Aircraft. An accomplished manned and unmanned aviator, Hanson was a an early advocate for the AMA's comprehensive engagement with the enthusiast drone community and will work to ensure the organization's long-term viability by embracing these new RC pilots. He will also continue the organization's long history of support for free flight, control line and conventional RC flying.
