The Importance of Surge Protection
Scott demonstrates how surge protection safeguards a home’s appliances and electronics.
Where to find it?
Whole house surge protectors install at the main electrical panel and protect all the circuits in the panel. These are available at home centers and electric supply houses.
Surge protecting power strips protect the devices plugged into them (and should not be confused with a power distribution strip that looks similar but offers no surge protection). These are available at home centers and electronics stores.
Build It | Cedar Deck Box Planter
Tom and Kevin build a deck box planter using western red cedar.
Where to find it?
Tom and Kevin used Western red cedar to build the deck box. It’s naturally rot resistant and is available at lumber yards.
For the planters, Tom used milk crates lined with 12” square grow bags. Milk crates are sold in home centers and the liners can be purchased through online retailers like Amazon.
The pocket hole jig and pocket screws are manufactured by Kreg.
Expert assistance with this project was provided by the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association, Mahoney’s Garden Center, and Nawada Landscape Design.
Ross tests out a 3D scanning tool that attaches to tablets and can quickly measure rooms.
Ross demonstrated the Structure sensor, manufactured by Occipital.
Expert assistance with this project was provided by Maria Tsamis Interior Design and Consulting.
