Round Trip across the Kassandra Peninsula - Greece HD Travel Channel

We stay several nights in the hotel Stamos in Afytos, an ideal initial starting point for our day trips. One of these day trips is a round trip across the Kassandra peninsula. Our tour leads us south along the east coast. But this part of the peninsula is primarily dominated by weekend houses of the Greeks from Athens or Thessaloniki. So there are only a few opportunities to get to the sea.
In the south, we drive to the west shore and arrive at a vantage point, shortly before the village entrance of Loutra.
Here, the coast drops steeply into the sea. Only small sandy bays invite you to swim. The bays get wider only at the exit of the village of Loutra.
At the pretty little church Panagia Faneromeni we make a short stop.
Inside we admire the marvelous frescoes and icons. The church dates back to the 16th century. This sanctuary is connected with the legend about a floating marble stone with the icon of Madonna.
On the way north, we visit the beach of Posidi and enjoy the lovely surroundings, the sandy beach, and the clear water.
Via Skala Fourkas, Sivin, Kassandra we reach Kalithea. Not least because of the many places to stay, Kalithea is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Halkidiki during the summer.
We pass the mighty church of Saint Panteleimon (Enoriakos). After about 3 km we are back in Afytos.

Wir verbringen mehrere Nächte im Hotel Stamos in Afytos, denn es ist ein ideale Ausgangpunkt für Tagesausflüge. Einer dieser Tagesausflüge ist eine Rundfahrt über die Halbinsel Kassandra.
Wir fahren an der Ostküste entlang in Richtung Süden. Dieser Teil der Halbinsel wird aber primär von Wochenendhäusern der Griechen aus Athen oder Thessaloniki dominiert, so dass es nur wenige Gelegenheiten gibt an das Meer zu kommen.
Im Süden fahren wir an das Westufer und treffen am Ortseingang von Loutra auf einen sehr schönen Aussichtspunkt.
Hier fällt die Küste steil ab ins Meer. Nur kleine Sandbuchten laden zum Baden ein. Erst beim Ortsausgang von Loutra werden die Buchten weiter.
An der hübschen kleinen Kirche Panagia Faneromeni machen wir einen kurzen Stopp.
Im Inneren sind herrliche Fresken und Ikonen zu sehen. Die Kirche stammt aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Eine Sage über einen schwimmenden Marmorstein mit einem Marienbildnis ist mit diesem Heiligtum verbunden.
Auf dem Weg in Richtung Norden besuchen wir danach den Strand von Posidi und genießen die wunderschöne Umgebung, den Sandstrand und das klare Wasser.
Über Skala Fourkas, Sivin, Kassandra erreichen wir Kalithea. Nicht zuletzt wegen der vielen Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten, ist Kalithea im Sommer eins der beliebtesten Touristenziele auf der Chalkidiki.
Wir passieren die mächtige Kirche Saint Panteleimon (Enoriakos). Nach ca. 3 km sind wir wieder in Afytos.
