2016 Tri-Cities Huckfest – 10 Y/O Pilot with a new OMP Yak SP-55M

We’re at the 2016 Tri-Cities Huckfest with Oliver who is now 10 years old. It’s been three years since I last saw Oliver fly (at the Wenatchee Huckfest) and he has grown enough to be able to grip his radio properly and stand up while he flies. This talented young man is flying his new Ohio Model Products 50cc Yak SP-55M and fly it he does.
He’s such a well-mannered and polite young man; it’s a real pleasure to have him around.
Although I didn’t catch it on video, Oliver was flying his dad’s plane when the wing exploded in mid-air and Oliver had the presence of mind to flip it into a knife edge and bring it back to the runway where it went down on the final turn and landed in the soft stuff saving a lot of the equipment. Nice job Oliver!

Here’s a link to the video I filmed when Oliver was just 7 years old. In this video, he was test driving an Aztech Aeromodels 120cc Slick 540. In the video you’ll see out dear friend Azhar, the owner of Aztech Aeromodels, giving Oliver a hand with the plane. We lost Azhar to cancer last year and miss him a great deal.
