In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Adam Schlender of South Korean Fortune 500 manufacturer Doosan, which produces heavy construction equipment sold under brands like Bobcat. To provide electricity at remote job sites, the company developed its own hydrogen fuel cell technology, which it has now applied to drones in order to allow for flight times of two hours, or longer. The Doosan hydrogen fuel cell technology can be retrofitted on to existing platforms such as the DJI Matrice M600 – dramatically extending its flight time, as well as being incorporated into new drone aircraft designs. Potential applications include linear infrastructure surveying, such as pipelines and electrical power lines, as well as large vertical structures, such as dams and off-shore oil platforms. Doosan intends to release the new drones in the second quarter of 2019.
