In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew conducts a field test for the Anafi drone from Parrot, beginning with the compass calibration procedure. The Anafi has two default flight modes: “Film,” which provides extremely slow, deliberate movements suitable for aerial photography; and “Sport,” which allows for more rapid maneuvering. However, the Freeflight 6 app from Parrot allows the user to change individual flight parameters, even while the drone is airborne – allowing for even more aggressive maneuvers. The drone's two-cell, 2,700 mAH batteries can be charged from any USB power source, making it easier to re-charge in the field, even in remote locations. A sample of aerial video is provided from the Anafi. Its camera incorporates a 21 megapixel Sony CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 4K video, and it is capable of tilting through a full 180 degrees, from zenith to nadir. It also provides a lossless digital zoom capability. The field test concludes with a gimbal stabilization demonstration and a flight endurance test.
