In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew speaks with Christian Domecq from B&H Photo, Video and Pro Audio about the SplashDrone 3 from SwellPro. The SplashDrone is completely waterproof, being able to land in water and take off again. This version incorporates a membrane that allows heat from the internal components to escape the drone while remaining airtight. The controller incorporates a built-in screen for a First-Person View (FPV) from the two-axis, 4K video camera mounted on board the aircraft. The intended market for the SplashDrone was originally fishing and other water recreation; however, with its ability to deploy a payload remotely, it has also been used by life guards in water rescue scenarios to deliver personal flotation devices (PFDs). The SplashDrone 3 is capable of carrying and delivering a payload of up to two pounds.
