In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew unboxes and sets up the Anafi drone from Parrot. A lightweight, folding-limb drone, the Anafi includes several unique design features, including a camera mounted on a two-axis gimbal that can tilt through a full 180 degrees, from zenith to nadir. In spite of only having mechanical stabilization in the pitch and roll axes, the Anafi does provide yaw-axis stability through a digital stabilization system. The camera incorporates a 21 megapixel Sony CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 4K video. The Anafi includes a modest suite of sensors, including GPS and a single ultrasonic altitude sensor as well as an optical flow camera. The drone flies using a two-cell, 2,700 mAH battery that can be recharged using a USB-C connector, with no special hardware. The kit includes the Parrot SkyController 3, which has a clamp to mount an Android or iOS smart phone. The Anafi is compatible with the new Freelflight 6 app from Parrot, which provides telemetry and live video from the aircraft.
