In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew unboxes and sets up the O2 drone from GDU – the Global Drone Union. The O2 is a quadcopter that incorporates a unique design with sliding, aircraft-grade aluminum limbs. For transportation and storage, the drone and its controller fit together into a single brick, which protects the propellers and joysticks from damage, and makes it easy to carry in a backpack. The three-axis gimbal carries a camera with a one-third inch CMOS sensor, capable of capturing 4K video at 30 frames per second, as well as 13 megapixel stills. Video and stills are stored in the 16 gigabyte, internal memory. The aircraft also includes a forward-facing visual collision avoidance system. The controller also includes a unique design: telescoping to securely hold the user's smart phone securely between the control joysticks. Video and telemetry are provided using the GDU Mini app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices.
