RunCam HD 2.8 Part 1 - Unbox and Overview
RunCam asked if they could send me a RunCam HD 2.8 camera to evaluate and review. I have purchased a number of RunCam FPV cameras in the past and have been very happy with the quality and price of their products so I was pleased to accept their offer.
I currently own several GoPros and a Mobius wide angle camera so I was keen to see how the lower priced RunCam stacked up against others that compete in this space. What makes this more interesting to me is that at the moment, RunCam seems to be the price leader in this category. Can a truly inexpensive camera deliver? Will it be as good as its competitors that cost more, you will be able to judge for yourself after you see the comparison footage that is coming in Part 2.
This video, Part 1, will cover the unboxing, basic operation of the camera and some flight footage. It was fun to get a chance to fly for a change instead of working the camera!
The next video, Part 2, will compare footage taken with the RunCam HD, the Mobius and the GoPro and will feature more RunCam flight footage.
At some point, you need to have a discussion with yourself about what you want to use an action camera for and then decide what camera and price point is going to meet your needs. If you're like the majority of us and are simply looking for a camera that will allow you to upload excellent quality video to YouTube, maybe you won’t have to spend as much as you think. Also, if you either crash or lose your plane, you might be glad it was carrying a $50 camera rather than one that might cost ten times as much. For those with lots of money, I guess it doesn’t matter. It matters to me.
