The Hubble Space Telescope, launched on 24 April 1990, took four images with its Wide Field Camera 3 to cover the entire expanse of this 10 light year-wide spherical envelop of expanding gas. Discovered by William Herschel and now called NGC 7635, the ‘Bubble Nebula’ lies 8,000 light years away and is illuminated by a star that is several hundred thousand times brighter than the Sun. -- Full Story:
