Brant finally got the backordered retracts installed on his Hawker Hurricane (as seen in a previous video on this channel, look for the video response) and then in a moment of weakness, sold it to Steve.
Brant acquires new planes at a frantic pace and always needs to make room in his cavernous hanger for new arrivals. Brant's loss, Steve's gain!
In any event, the Hurricane now looks as it should in a flying video and looks great flying around with the gear tucked up.
In this video, Steve's son Leigh takes it up for a few low level scale passes over the field and did a great job. You'll see that he took a momentary break from the "scale" flight plan where he busts out a knife edge LOL.
The Hawker Hurricane is a British single-seat fighter aircraft that was designed and predominantly built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd for the Royal Air Force (RAF). Although largely overshadowed by the Supermarine Spitfire, the aircraft became renowned during the Battle of Britain, accounting for 60% of the RAF's air victories in the battle, and served in all the major theatres of the Second World War.
This was one of many great flights we witnessed at the two day first annual Trudi Simonson Memorial Fun Fly event held at Spectrum Flyers on August 25-26, 2012. We were able to raise a nice donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in the name of Trudi who was the wife of one of our members and who lost her battle with cancer last year. RIP Trudi.
