In this episode, the Roswell Flight Test Crew talks with Eric Mizufuka of Epson USA about the company's award winning app for its Moverio BT-300 smart glasses: an augmented reality flight simulator for the DJI Mavic drone. The app interfaces with a real Mavic controller and projects a virtual aircraft into the user's actual surroundings – allowing them to practice flight maneuvers in the real world with no risk either to the drone or people and objects in the environment. At Xponential 2018, Epson won first place in the Innovative Drone Technology category of the Xcellence awards for the app, which is available now for download. In addition to its new flight simulator, Epson was also showcasing its small, high-performance Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), which are used in professional-grade Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
